Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has a history that dates back to 1951 when the Kumasi College of Technology was established. In 1961 the college was granted full university status and it became Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

There are six colleges within the university: the college of agriculture and natural resources, college of art and built environment, college of humanities and social sciences, college of engineering, college of health sciences and the college of science. Outside of the classroom students are encouraged to get involved in the university’s extracurricular activities. There are currently more than 100 student groups and organisations on campus but this number is increasing every year as students start new clubs to fit their interests.
