The Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (Frankfurt UAS) was awarded the title of Fairtrade University on January 27, 2022. The Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (Frankfurt UAS) was the first university in Hesse to adopt a sustainability strategy in March 2021. The university wants to develop know-how, shape attitudes and become an ambassador – and above all be a pioneer and role model for other organizations in this society to work on the topic of sustainability. An important goal is to make all university operations CO?-neutral by 2030 at the latest.
With the award of the title, the university fulfills the goal set in the sustainability strategy of becoming a Fairtrade University. In the future, when selecting cooperation partners, Frankfurt UAS will ensure that they are committed to sustainability – where verifiable. The principle of sustainability also decides on purchases and orders. The university thus contributes to the eighth of the 17 goals of the United Nations for sustainable development: promoting decent work and permanent, broad-based and sustainable economic growth as well as productive full employment for all.
