Courses are optimally adapted to current and future requirements of the labour market; to this end, the University cooperates in many ways with companies located in this region. While working on projects, in practical semesters or completing their final thesis, this allows students to gain an insight into practical work at an early stage. At the same time, companies can verify the quality of the University’s teaching.
Research at the University focuses, among other things, on wind energy and biomass utilization, shipbuilding, immersive media, nanotechnology, electromobility as well as basic research in the field of social work and health. Once every semester, students can familiarize themselves with other fields of knowledge and areas of study during the Interdisciplinary Weeks (Interdisziplinäre Wochen [IdW]).
